How to do it
- Stand perfectly centered between two cable towers with pulleys set to the floor, holding a D-handle in each hand with an underhand grip.
- Take a half step forward to secure your base, keeping your torso upright and your chest proud.
- Brace your core and maintain a slight bend in your elbows that stays locked throughout the set.
- Sweep the handles upward and inward in a scooping motion until your hands meet at upper-chest height.
- Squeeze the upper chest powerfully at the top of the movement for a full second.
- Slowly lower the handles back down to the starting position along the same arc, resisting the weight on the way down.
Coaching cues
- Scoop upward
- Keep the chest high
- Squeeze the upper pecs
Common mistakes
- Using momentum to swing the weight up
- Bending the elbows too much, turning it into a curl
- Leaning too far back
